Does your company trade goods with the EU? If so, learn what changes are being put in place as of January 31st, 2021; when the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.
Starting January 31st, imported non-controlled goods, such as fashion and technology, must go through customs. From there, businesses will experience the added expense caused by a Value-Added Tax on imported goods. Customs declarations and the fees paid are compulsory in order for the items to enter the UK.
By July 2021, all items imported into the UK must meet full custom requirements. They must receive and submit a safety and security declaration. Finally, they must pass all customs compliance checks.
Is your supply chain documentation ready?
The new process requires further information in the shipping documentation. The most common are ASN’s, aka Advanced Shipping Notices. The new requirements are required by customers and suppliers alongside the government.
To reduce chaos, global businesses will turn to ASN’s, as they allow companies to update information quickly. Thus, using EDI within your organisation is going to become more essential than ever.
