Supplier automation priorities for 2022: here’s what you told us

Supplier automation priorities 2022

Poll results and analysis

In our most recent LinkedIn poll, we asked voters how they’d describe their supplier automation priorities over the next 12 months. This is part of our series of polls designed to better understand how companies are planning to manage their supply chain for the year ahead. In particular, we’re interested in supply chain management in relation to automating moving operations and EDI solutions.

We asked our LinkedIn audience to choose their key supplier automation priority for the next 12 months: increasing their automation profile, offering EDI alternatives, increasing EDI connectivity or automating data content.

Supplier automation priorities: what we found

  • Of the four choices provided, 50% of respondents said that increasing their automation profile was the most important aspect of supplier automation. This is an encouraging result as an increase in automation typically means higher degrees of production, productivity, efficiency in material use, product quality and safety, as well as reducing working hours and factory lead times.
  • The next most popular option, with 25% of respondents, was offering EDI alternatives. Examples of this include B2BE’s own Web-EDI which allows companies without the infrastructure of a full EDI to trade electronically.
  • Next, 13% of respondents said that they would prioritise increasing EDI connectivity with suppliers. This aspect of supplier automation will improve the inter-company communication of business documents in a common format, speeding up business cycles that significantly reduces, if not eliminating, time delays associated with manual processing.
  • Finally, the remaining 13% of respondents said that their supplier automation priority would be automating data content with suppliers. Content automation is technology that automates manual processes in content marketing. Not simply automated content generation, it aims to automate every stage of the content from generation to maintenance.
